The Sustainability Consortium
The goal of this study is to develop a tiered index for sustainable water use for the production, processing and distribution of food, beverage and agricultural consumer packaged goods. Sustainable industrial water use is evaluated using a three stage approach:
- geographic watershed analysis;
- analysis of facility-level watershed impacts;
- supply chain water-use assessment.
For the pilot of the proposed framework, Mars, Tyson Foods, Miller-Coors and PepsiCo contributed data for nearly 330 production facilities worldwide.
