Reducing NRW in Tawian
In 2014 Leif Koch joined a pilot project in Tawian with DHI, Ramböll and the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, The Trade Council. Taiwan Water had a wish to reduce the water loss on the pipeline system. A test field was chosen in the Chijin Island and a highly qualified team of leakage operators and engineers worked on site. Leif Koch took care of training of the local staff of Taiwan Water in localizing the leakages on the pipeline system using advanced leakage detection instruments. In only one week our leakage operators found 13 leakages together with the local staff. With localizing and repairing the leakages on the pipeline system, the NRW was highly reduced.. The goal of the Tawian Water Strategic Sales Alliance (SSA) was to realize economic diplomacy through forming a Danish water delegation led by Danish Ministry of Environment, the Trade Council of Denmark (TC), Danish water utility, and water technology expertise from the private sector. The purpose was to engage in comprehensive dialogue with Taiwan Environmental Protection Administration (EPA) through the participation in the “Taiwan Denmark Workshop for Environment and Water Resources”. The Workshop is tailor made for showcasing Danish water expertise and systematic export in the three specific subjects: Non Revenue Water (NRW), ground water mapping, and cloud bursting management (urban flooding). The pilot project was a big success.
