Natura Grey Water Footprint Analysis and Action Plan
Natura is a Brazil-based company with a strong commitment towards sustainability. As part of its environmental, social and governance (ESG) activities, the company carried out a water footprint analysis of two products in its portfolio. This showed that the use phase represented one of the main water risks. With a particular focus on understanding the grey water footprint, Natura carried out a second study, trying to further understand the impact caused by consumers when using rinsible products such as cosmetics, shampoos and soaps. As most consumers are located in Brazil, the company carried out a thorough analysis comparing sales figures with wastewater treatment capacities in each city. The results of the study are now being used by Natura to develop further studies and actions on ecotoxicology and biodegradation of its product lines.
