Market Replication by European Metal Working SMEs of Demineralised Water Recovery and Re-USE under Atmospheric Conditions (METAL-WATER)
This project will consist in:
1. Design, manufacture and deployment of two modules of Multiple stage humidification/Deshumidification technology (EcoStill) on two industrial workshops from surface treatment of metal industry.
2. The two demonstrators will be tested during twelve months with continuous assessment of performances (mainly yield, energy consumption and operating costs), life cycle assessment and costing, and operating and maintenance requirements.
3. In parallel the partners will also evaluate feasibility of metal recovery from concentrated waste stream.
4. Widespread presentation to the wider European surface treatment industry through demonstrations at the two STM locations and through wider activities that will include over 10 technical publications and presentations to at least one metal industry fair and one waste water treatment fair.
The overall objective of this first application and market replication project is to demonstrate a low cost approach to the wastewater volume reduction together with recovery and reuse of demineralised water from the Surface Treatment of Metals (STM) rinsing operations.
Demonstrate economical interest of EcoStill equipment (MHD technology) for the treatment of wastewater from surface treatment of metals with at least 30% cost reduction
Demonstrate ecological interest of EcoStill equipment (MHD technology) for the treatment of wastewater from surface treatment of metals with at least 30% carbon footprint reduction
Assess European market with a potential interest for at least 10 000 workshops on European market
Identify technical and economical feasibility of metal recovery
