HyGEM: Mapping of groundwater and groundwater resources
ALECTIA is participating as a business partner in a 4-year research project called HyGEM to improve the mapping of groundwater and groundwater resources. Our participation allows us to apply the latest research-based knowledge to our groundwater consulting services. The new methodologies for making use of mapping data developed through the HyGEM project can be used both nationally and internationally, as groundwater issues have global relevance. The HyGEM project will be valuable for national mapping and to municipalities, regions, water supplies and consulting companies. Description of the project. The HyGEM research project will provide tools for the automatic integration e.g. of closely measured airborne geophysical data with more widely spread geological data from wells. Such integration will be used to automatically generate hydrogeological models and is an important element for administering the groundwater resources in relation e.g. to town planning, watercourse impacts, groundwater protection and nitrate leaching. Latest research-based knowledge ALECTIA participates actively in various research projects together with research institutions. In relation to groundwater we are also involved in the NICA and HYACINTS projects.
