Brackish water desalination from combination of medium power wind turbines and the technology of ElectroDialysis Reversal

Reduction of the cost of water pumped for irrigation in agricultural use or human consumption through the use of brackish water with a determined salinity. The project consists of brackish water desalination from the combination of medium power wind turbines and the technology of ElectroDialysis Reversal (EDR). This is explained in more detail in the attached chart on the next page of the document. It is for any municipality, local authority, cooperative or agricultural and/or livestock groups interested in obtaining water for human consumption or agricultural pumping at low cost. Advantages: It employs medium power wind turbines as sole source of electricity; Use as desalination technology the ElectroDialysis Reversal (EDR) that can work with partial loads, at least 50% of rated flow. This, coupled with low specific energy consumption (about 1-1.5 kWh/m3) and its modularity, makes the EDR desalination technology ideal for our project; The desalinated water is brackish from groundwater with dissolved salt content of about 2 g/l and a maximum conductivity of 5.000 mS/cm; It allows the use of non-conventional water resources, such as brackish water.
