OWTI Oregon Water Tech Innovators
OWTI is a non-profit group formed to advance Oregon’s position as a leader in the water technology sector. It includes representatives from private businesses, government, academia, trade associations, and economic development. OWTI's efforts encompass all aspects of the water cycle – as many technologies have cross-over applications, and companies and researchers working in differing parts of the water sector have much that they can learn from each other. Its “one water” umbrella covers diverse areas such as water supply, treatment, end-use (household, commercial, industrial, agricultural, recreational), wastewater, re-use, and stormwater management – accompanied by the full range of physical and information-based technologies and management practices. OWTI has four inter-related objectives:
- Support companies working in the water sector by providing opportunities for learning, networking, collaboration, and business development.
- Support the economic success of the sector through initiatives that will increase competitiveness and business growth, such as trade missions, export programs, and advocacy.
- Support water technology industry research and development efforts through coordination and enhanced access to Oregon's academic institutions and funding opportunities.
- Support the commercialization of new technologies by connecting researchers with companies and end users – assuring that researchers are addressing market needs, and paving the way for the testing and adoption of new technologies by the marketplace.
Oregon Water Tech Innovators is hosted by Northwest Environmental Business Council (NEBC), in partnership with Oregon BEST, Oregon State University, Portland State University, Business Oregon, and the Portland Development. A steering committee shapes its work.
