TEA Sistemi SpA
TEA Sistemi SpA (TEA) is a private company that provides research and development services, having Oil&Gas Industry as core business. The company R&D activities cover the fields of Flow Assurance, Risk Analysis, Subsea, Topside and Down-hole Processing and Separation. The main business areas of TEA are flow assurance and advanced computational fluid dynamic studies, safety analysis of severe accident and design and realization of specialised process equipment and multiphase metering. TEA also supports internal R&D activities and develops proprietary know-how which now represents a consistent asset of the Company.
TEA currently employs about 60 qualified people who cover the various process, safety and environmental
engineering problems, with the support of a few of associated collaborators (professors and researchers from
University, the Italian National Research Council and other institutions). The Company is divided into 5 divisions,
each belonging to the Services or the Products Areas. For each of the operative divisions specific R&D activities
are carried out in TEA both under external sponsorship and internal research programs.
Since a couple of decades, an Environment Department has been activated in TEA, performing monitoring and modelling activities such as: pollution modelling (air-water quality, soil and groundwater contamination, oil spill studies), permitting Phase (ESHIA, IPPC report, etc.), coastal hydrodynamics, noise analysis and mitigation, site remediation, environmental monitoring.
In particular, TEA participated in several Regional and International projects carried out under EU Funding Programmes, such as:
1. A.GA.MON (Aerial Gas Monitoring) – 2009, supported by Regione Toscana, Grant “Bando Unico R&D 2008”, under programme POR-CREO 2007-2013, financed through ERDF – European Regional Development Funds.
2. BI.AGRO (BioreActive Barriers based on Red Gypsum applied to Landfill plants) – 2010, supported by Regione Toscana, Grant “Linea di Intervento 1.1.a”, under programme POR-CREO 2007-2013, financed through ERDF – European Regionale Development Funds.
3. TIO.GES – 2012, supported by Regione Toscana, Grant “Bando Unico R&D 2012”, under programme POR-CREO 2007-2013, financed through ERDF – European Regionale Development Funds.
4. MARSOL (FP7 ENV.2013.WATER INNO&DEMO-1) (2013-2016), where solute transport capabilities are going to be added to the free and open source GIS-based modeling platform named SID&GRID. The latter has been in turn developed on the basis of European Social Funds via Regione Toscana financing schemes.
Furthermore, it is worth to mention that TEA is part of the recently approved Action Group within the 16 new EIP Water Action Groups. The AG is named MAR(solutions)-to-MARket.
