KIOS Research Center for Intelligent Systems and Networks, University of Cyprus
The KIOS Research Center for Intelligent Systems and Networks operates within the University of Cyprus. Its aims are to contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the area of intelligent systems and applications to the design and management of large-scale complex systems with emphasis on safety-critical and trustworthy systems. The Center’s research application domains include energy & power systems, telecommunication networks, water and environmental systems and intelligent transportation and health systems.
KIOS collaborates with a variety of industrial and public sector organizations. It boasts international research collaborations with a large number of research organizations and companies. It also collaborates with local organizations responsible for key infrastructure networks such as the Transmission Systems Operator, Electricity Authority of Cyprus, Cyprus Water Board and the Department of Communication and Public Works. The Center has strong collaboration with industrial partners, which are supporting its research activities including the Cyprus Telecommunication Authority (CYTA), Hellas Satellite, PrimeTel, and the Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC).
The KIOS Research Center has extensive experience in coordinating externally funded research projects, both from European and National funding sources. This includes leading and active partnerships in several FP7 and other EU projects, as well as the coordination of the ESF-COST Action "Intelligent Monitoring, Control and Security of Critical Infrastructure Systems (IntelliCIS)".
