CARTIF Foundation, created in 1994, is a leading Spanish Applied Research Centre in terms of R&D and technology transfer activities. CARTIF is formed up by almost 200 people, mainly engineers, scientists and senior researchers. During previous years, CARTIF has carried out over 100 R&D and innovation projects with a turnover of approximately 11M€. CARTIF is part of 20 research and professional networks including 13 international and several technology platforms and Networks such as Eurobotics AISBL Network, ISES (International Solar Energy Society) and IEA (International Energy Agency), and it is also the Spanish National Liaison Point of the European E2BA (Energy Efficient Buildings Association). Additionally, CARTIF is one of the founding members and main promoters of the Smart City VyP initiative carried out in the Spanish cities of Valladolid and Palencia. Its main research areas are as follows: Biomedical Engineering, Energy, Environment, Food and Chemicals, Automation and Process Control and Robotics and Computer Vision.
CARTIF also keeps a close collaboration with the most representative organisations of regional and national industrial development: Castilla y León Regional Development Agency, the Spanish Ministry of Industry and the European Commission (DG Research, DG Enterprise, DG Environment and DG TREN). One of the major fields of work is the integration and development of prototypes and techniques transferable to industry, as CARTIF is devoted to offer practical solutions to industry.
