The Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) is the largest public multidisciplinary research organisation in Spain. The Experimental Station of Aula Dei (EEAD-CSIC, Zaragoza, www.eead.csic.es) is an Agricultural Research Institute. The EEAD group participating in this proposal was established in 1995, and is composed by six researchers specializing in the fields of irrigation engineering, crop water requirements and agronomy. This group participates in the 30-year research tradition of the Soils and Irrigation Unit of the CITA (Agri-food Research and Technology Center of the Government of Aragón). Both institutions are located in Zaragoza, Spain, and together compose the Research Group for Irrigation, Agronomy and the Environment, recipient of the Excellence classification of the regional government. In the period 2008-2012, the extended group authored 116 research paper listed in the web of Science, directed 10 PhD Thesis and lectured in 118 postgraduate courses, addressing students form Europe, Latin America and Africa.
