Water Innovation Europe 2017 Conference – Summary Report
WssTP’s annual stakeholder conference, Water Innovation Europe 2017: ‘The Value of water: The case for innovation and investment in water’, concluded last week in Brussels with over 220 participants. The two-day conference raised its curtains with a key-note speech by Jyrki Katainen, EC Vice-President for Jobs, Growth, Investment and Competitiveness, and was closed by Claire Pace, President of the European Youth Parliament for Water, who both emphasized that water is the key factor for the sustainability of our economy and societies, and that water related challenges must be addressed with a systemic approach.
The conference hosted several high-level speakers from all economic sectors who debated how to boost the future water-smart society as envisaged in the WssTP Vision. All underlined the necessity for investments in innovative technological solutions and infrastructures, supported by a strong new model of water-smart governance. The key conclusions of the WIE2017 conference will become available at the end of June, with the work derived next being showcased at the EIP Water conference in Porto in September.
