Establishment of an Advisory Council to consolidate AG role as European think tank for water benchmarking
Action Group on Water Benchmarking (AG EBC) prepares for establishment of an Advisory Council to consolidate AG role as European think tank for water benchmarking.
In the inception phase of the Action Group, much effort was put in defining the concept of 'complete benchmarking'; that is to say that not only performance assessment but equally important performance improvement (based on the assessments) are key for realising the end goals. In the subsequent years, the Action Group grew to better understand the dynamics of learning from each other’s experiences and that a common search for solutions are central to come to improvements. In the last EBC annual workshop (Malta) it was concluded that this approach bears fruits in ongoing benchmark projects in Eastern Europe – such as in the Danube Region.
In order to be timely resourced for new developments, such as in climate resilience and cyber security, the Action Group intends to establish an Advisory Council that will work in close consultation with the members to address the new challenges as faced by water utilities.
The preparation of the Advisory Council, together with the further consolidation of the current work, will be central at the agenda for the new annual meeting in the first half of this year.
